Crew Chief Mike Rogers Confesses the Travis Walton Hoax!

For almost forty-five years, many UFOlogists have held up the Travis Walton “five day UFO abduction” story, the subject of the 1993 movie “Fire in the Sky,” as solid proof of a ‘UFO abduction.’ For many reasons, skeptics like me have never found the story convincing, but there was no actual proof that it was a hoax. The Walton story has been told so many times that, even in the midst of the current UFO media frenzy, production companies are uninterested in doing anything more about it, unless some new angle could be revealed. Now Ryan Gordon, who is planning to produce a documentary to reveal a new angle on this famous case, presents a side of the case that has never been seen before – to not only show that the Walton “abduction” is a hoax, but using information obtained from Travis and Mike themselves, to show exactly how the hoax was accomplished. (Hint: Philip J. Klass’ speculations on how it was done were not correct.)

Mike Rogers, Travis Walton, and Dana Walton (Mike's sister), with the actual truck from the incident.

Gordon has a recorded confession from MikeRogers, and he has given permission to post the transcript of the relevant portion here.  (This was not a formal interview. Ryan Gordon had been in talks with Mike Rogers and Travis Walton beginning in June 2020. Ryan was driving when Mike called him out of the blue. This was not uncommon for Mike to do. When Mike started to tell Ryan that the event was hoaxed, Ryan pulled his truck over and put his phone on speaker and recorded the call with his Apple Watch pursuant to Ariz. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 13-3001. The date of the call is April 30, 2021. )

  1. THIS is your proof???? Mr. Schaefer; if you think constitutes proof that the Travis Walton account is a hoax, then you are are even more desperate and empty-handed than we thought.

When Mike says "I don't know how the UFO got there", that means there was a UFO. He even says "it looked real". Is your friend suggesting that Travis Walton and his brother created a phony UFO in the middle of the woods that looked real? Were they lumberjacks or Hollywood special effects artists?

From a purely logical point of view, why would you believe this equivocal and non-specific statement over the detailed and self-consistent account of Walton?

If you have "more developments" on the story, I certainly hope they are more compelling than this is, because frankly, this recording proves nothing at all.

    1. For some people, there is no such thing as proof. A creative mind can always wiggle out of accepting an alternative conclusion. What we have here is called evidence. And you refuse to take it as a confession.

I’m wondering, what would you consider proof that this entire case is a hoax? Paint me a picture.

    2. “It is as if the agent or intelligence here at work is parodying, daubing, hoaxing; (and tricking investigators, providing them with just enough physical evidence to convince those willing to believe in the reality of the phenomenon, but not enough to persuade the skeptics” John Mack. Think about it. Brilliant in this new context.

  2. This is definitely a case where I'd like to see some independent evidence that Mike Rogers is telling the truth. There's a history of bad blood here. Please note this doesn't mean I'm on board with Travis Walton.

    2. You must be living under a rock these days. Yeah we're the only speck of sand in thE WHOLE ENORMOUS universe that has any type of intelligent life. Wow! Can you even start to imagine what the odds would be? Pretty much astronomically impossible. We have only evolved to taking first powered flight in 1903 and walked on the moon by 1969. That's a blink of an eye in the history of our planet. And we're still using primitive propulsion, can you imagine where we maybe in another 100 years or a thousand years. Well that is if we don't blow ourselves up. Destroy ourselves by then.

    3. How do you feel now considering all the military, Nasa and now recent Capitol Hill accounts saying it's all true with evidence? LOL

  5. Still to be confirmed, however, this is an alleged rebuttal from Mike Roger's: Comments?
Does anyone realize that in this digital age anything can be digitally manipulated, and audio manipulation is extremely easy. Ryan Gordon is such a manipulator. He clipped and added bits of voice to create what he claims to have of me. Through Ryan’s legal trickery, I unknowingly gave him the words for him to then re-create and digitally manipulate to his skeptical liking. One thing he does not include here, and would never think of including, is all the minutes of talking between Ryan and I at the UFO site. However, I have dealt with skeptics before, and they are all the same. They will literally do anything to change reality to their liking, and I will soon prove this guy’s supposed truth to be total BS as well. Does anyone remember Philip Klass and what happened to him on Larry King Live? Gordon is less than nothing compared to Klass.

    1. That sounds like Genuine Mike Rogers. He has been claiming to have a recording of some "incriminating" comments supposedly made by Gordon at the site, to which Gordon replies 'if you have this, go ahead and post it.' Rogers is just making stuff up.

  6. July 6: Mike Rogers posts on his Facebook page that Ryan Gordon is using dishonest "audio deception".

Asked by a reader whether Travis' account of his story is truthful, Mike replied, "I have no connection to what Travis Walton says or doesn't say. He is on his own with whatever he says."

What a ringing endorsement of Travis Walton's veracity!

  7. Roger has now created a youtube video about this so I see. Frankly reading over the nonsense these past few days I will dismiss this case and all involved and move along. Enough time gets wasted and money spent. Next.

  10. Charlie, I'm glad to hear from you. I was very impressed by your website, because you have obviously spent a great deal of time studying these cases. I may leave some comments on your writeup of the Hill case. I knew Betty Hill, and she was beyond any doubt a 'fantasy-prone person.' The polar opposite of "credible."

I see you don't have any comments yet, which makes me wonder if you have any readers? Your "Three Dollar Kit" does not turn up in Google searches, probably because nothing is linked to it. Now that there are at least a few links, that will change.

  11. Need: What's the link to Mike Rogers' Facebook page where he reportedly is commenting on this? Also, Ryan Gordon aka Orion Adventures in one of the comments on the above YouTube page says "I write and sell TV shows for a living." I can't find his IMDb page. Anyone have the link? Thanks.

  12. Mike Heston Rogers responds:

The top of Gentry tower is square, and it's bottom doesn't reflect anything. And it has never been know to fly away. lol and hilarious

  13. The original written report by Mike to GSW of the UFO sighting doesn't mention the UFO flying away. Given what a spectacular sight that would've been, from only a quarter-mile away, I doubt he'd forget to include it. Seeing the UFO depart was a later embellishment.

  14. I wonder what scientific value the aliens got from Mr. Walton? They never came back, so I'm presuming it was enough to win the Space Nobel Prize.

  15. Ok, these Aliens supposedly traveled BILLIONS of miles from their home planet, only to abduct a wood chopper? If this is for real, then those Aliens were the dumbest live forms in the universe; it was all faked by Travis, Rogers, and their buddies.

    1. Way further than billions; Alpha Centauri's 4.0113 x 10^13 kilometres away. Now, naturally, the aliens forgot to tell Mr. Walton the name of their planet and/or its parent star, whilst also neglecting to mention how they bent the laws of physics to get here...

  16. Even if every word of this tale is 100 percent true, nothing in it suggests involvement of visitors from other planets; it only describes a series of unexpected events of unexplained origin.

Assuming these events to involve extraterrestrial life forms requires a whole second leap of belief after accepting the unlikely story in the first place.

  18. Travis never wavered, one day the world will kno, that these things happened, many ppl lie for watever readons ,but you can tell when someone tells the truth if you learn the subtleties. Many ppl were taken who do not remember, sometimes something will jar the memory and it floods back in, many children were taken but returned. Some still happen but was very active in the 70s and 80s. Our govt. Knew and were given names, not all but a list still. I dont have to wonder, i was taken as child . Only once, but remember like was yesterday, 53 yrs later.
